We (LASD) have the potential to have one of the most innovative and progressive school districts in the country, yet we are constantly under siege by a minority looking to fight a political battle about public education. Let's focus on the kids.

What's next?!?
It felt like we had gotten into a good groove of open, public discussion. There were certainly some awkward and uncomfortable moments, but the wonderful thing is that they were FAR outnumbered by the productive moments, and an underlying feeling that we were making progress. As usual, I am only aware of one side of the story, but from the last LASD board meeting, it sounded like the LASD participants in both the short term and long term meetings were anxiously awaiting responses from their BCS peers regarding when we could resume. Given the attitude, and seeming obstinance of Mr La Poll at the last meeting, I'm not overly confident in the continuation of constructive conversations. I've included the clip below to see the "can-do" attitude, or lack thereof from the participants...
Kudos to Mayor Waldeck for keeping the people at the table, because I got the impression that they were all just going to have to give up...
